why is it that i hear very differently her meaning?
What i hear is this… she said she used to think that china did bad things and so bad things happen to it, like karma, then she said she had a letter asking her to help out and she came to realise that she should not think like that, and to help people even if she dont like them. Unfortunately the chinese people dont really have a good grasp of english and so they interpret it as she criticising china. English divides as much as it brings people together just because not many foreign people grasp the nuances of the language.
Anthony, are you being condescending to the chinese people? i am chinese, I work in the UK dealing with the ENglish all the time, how is it that my capture of what she says is just that - condescending and insensitive. By her logic, i should feel hurricane Katrina is Americans karma for their foreign policies in the middle east? err…Oh no I think I should not think like that I should not be bad to the americans even if they do unkind things to the middle east people…you know?
