school shoes

What you see here are four pairs of innocent-looking shoes :). The scenario repeats itself every weekend. I will remind him to wash his school shoes. I will nag and nag until he does it. If he had a choice, the shoes would never be washed until a century from now.

My wife asked me why not just do it for him and it would be cleaner unlike its present state and condition. The reason is that I want to teach him to be self reliant and not to take us for granted. So that he will appreciate what we do for him and that we are not his personal maids and assistants. :)

dying bees

This morning I woke up and found lots of giddy bees all over my compound dying. There is a smell in the air. I wonder what is happening. Is it because of the haze or is it because of a local situation. It is weird. I had to sweep the whole compound as to step on them would cause much pain as their stings are still potent.

Birthday celebrations and parties in Sibu

Today I had the honor of being invited to my friends’ joint birthday celebration tonight. Birthday parties are joyous occasions and every body had a happy time. It is a celebration of a friend’s life. It reminds me how time moves on and waits for no one. :) The thing is to look ahead and not look back too often :)

Haze is back in Sibu?

I do not understand what is happening. It has been stifling hot today. At first I thought it was the haze. I asked around and no one seems to have witnessed any open burning or aware of any local open burning activities.

Bengbeng: Selamat Gawai.

Loren : I am going home on the 28th and coming back on the 4th. It is not the same for Gawai as when you last visited. The long house has already been converted by SIB ( Sidang Injil Borneo ) a church group. There will not be the usual festivities. Cara lama tak pakai lagi. We may end up like the Chinese living in terrace houses except we call it rumah panjai.

Popular Book Store, Chinese Chess and shopping in Delta Mall, Sibu

dinner plate

Benghui has been studying very hard. Normally he scores poorly in Moral Studies and Mandarin as both are in Mandarin but this time, he has improved. I had to fulfill my promise of taking him to Kentucky Fried Chicken at Delta Mall, Sibu. I thought I saw a prominent Sibu blogger at a mobile phone shop but she was busy so I didn’t want to interfere with her and her customer. Customer = money :). Benghui finished this whole dinner plate. It could be because he worked so hard for it.
