An update about my red parrot fish for the enthusiasts. I have solved my algae problem by moving my aquarium indoors. It was probably due to too much sunlight. I have also placed bricks against the glass fronting the windows to screen the sunlight streaming in. It has also helped with the algae problem.

I now drain the water out directly through the window. I now use a hose to lead water into the aquarium so maintenance is a breeze. Notice too how they have grown in size. Red parrot fish as a breed are hardy creatures and won’t easily die on you like gold fish.

fish food pellets

My fish used to be very sedate but now with bricks and nooks and corners, they seem happier and not so lost in the aquarium. There was one time they seemed to be losing their red color. It puzzled me. The problem fixed itself when I changed the fish pellets for a more expensive one and of a different brand.

I love the way the sound of water resounds through the house twenty hours a day. Some how it makes the house more friendly, calming and happy

the water gushing out from the outlet is too strong, have it directed away from them. they look scare of it & certainly can’t swim near it.

thanks! the fish can seem more freely now . i have rerecorded the video. perhaps they were scared of being sucked by the stream of water

Red color on Red parrot fish are highly effected by the food they eat. I don’t rear any but my friend does. Whenever I was at my friend house I would tap on the aquarium glass and the fishes will all drawn near. Some of them can grown up to the size of my palm. And I would always tease my friend that they are already very big and can be BBQ. Ha ha..
