My home town can be termed as a moderately prosperous town. Nobody is starving or has no means to earn a living if one is willing to work hard. In exceptional cases, relatives, friends, society at large and the government will chip in to help.

The man in this pic is earning an honest living. Let us face it. Who needs his music? But still many give out of compassion and love. I gave him some money too while waiting for my missus to finish her shopping. It took her quite some time. In an hour or so, I estimate about four kind souls including me dropped a few coins.

The takings aren’t rich. The weather is hot and it definitely isn’t comfortable. Actually when I think of it, there are ways for making people like him earn a living with live with dignity. They just need to be taught the skills. Sad, isn’t it?

Further down the road there is another man with only one leg. He just sits there in the hot sun. Every human being who walks by has feelings of guilt. But many just pass him by. Their feelings of sympathy have become fatigued. They see him every day.

I always give a few coins to the street musicians, but not to those who just sit there showing a lost limb and waiting for people to pity them.

It’s not that I don’t have any sympathy in me, but I have an aunt who lost her arm in an accident and yet she insists on doing things on her own till we tend to forget that she only have an arm left. So I know if they really want to earn their living the honest way, there’s always a way.

i do not like to judge but it seemed to me the blind man was happy and the other guy was angry. it is possible the other man wasn’t born like that. perhaps the blind man was born blind and had got used to it.
