Washing dishes and I dream of monster eating you daddy

It is school holiday season. I am going nuts. Benghui is too free. He sings songs at the top of his voice, walks in and out of the house, reads story books like there is no tomorrow and keeps asking me to go to the library so that he can borrow new books. In short, he does everything except leave me in peace.

He is just too free. He plays with the dog. Plays his educational dvds like they are the top hits of the season. And most of all, hurts my ears with his renditions of hymns :( , off-key and loud and making up the words as he goes along. ( he cannot remember ). Must have inherited it from mummy. It couldn’t be me, could it? ;)

Mrs BB : Aiya, why you let him wash dishes? He is using so much detergent and wasting water. Will the dishes be clean? I buy and buy and the dish cleaner finishes so fast. It is like our house is a restaurant. *** grumble grumble grumble ***

Benghui ( singing Sunday school songs while washing the dishes ) : Daddy, why must I wash the dishes? Why not ask mummy to wash the dishes? What will happen if I wash the dishes and it is not clean and everybody falls sick?

Bengbeng : Don’t worry. I will check the dishes after you have washed it. You must wash it because mummy is tired. Every body must play their part. I do my work. Mummy does her work. You must do yours.

Benghui : But I study. I feed the fish. I water the flowers.

Bengbeng We do our work because it is a responsibility. This is our home. We must be united as a family.

Benghui : What is responsibility? What is united? Last night, I dreamed a monster came and ate you daddy. I was so scared. I wanted to help you daddy. I shouted and the monster didn’t hear me. I kicked the monster and the monster said, “Right on the button”.

Daddy : Right on the button? :)

I have long given up analyzing the things Benghui says and his dreams. They never make any sense.

Anyway, this is the result of his work. I had to wait half an hour to see the fruits of his labor. Benghui is quite proud of his labor. He insists I take a pic of his washed dishes. Occasionally he helps us mop the floor and helps us with preparation work for cooking.

Are your kids driving you crazy too? Thank goodness in another four days, the school holidays will be over.

“Right on the button”?? That’s funny.
Frankly, I can’t imagine what’s going to happen when my little girl reaches Benghui’s age…

Hi Benghui, here’s a tip for washing dishes faster… let the soap do the work for you. Remember the purpose of the soap is to separate the grease from the plates. It’s not how hard you scrub, it’s how you apply the soap!

I have 5 children and friends are always commenting that it must be very loud and noisy in my house. I always reply “Yes and I am always the loudest”. And yes, they do drive me nuts during the hols but frankly speaking, will miss their company when they go back to school.
u have five..that can b quite difficult to handle. the problem with Benghui is that he is always a happy child, always smiling n feeling happy. to him everything is a game. even study n reading. :)
