Cooking tips from the bamboo kitchen-weekend snapshots

WS2

pineapple chicken soup

My nose lead me to this scene while I was having noodles at a coffee shop. The smell of cooking in the open. It was awesome. I noticed they were cooking inside bamboo.

rice in bamboo

Basically they were cooking rice, pansuh chicken which means chicken cooked inside bamboo, chicken soup with carrots and pineapples and barbeque bamboo. The difference was that no seasoning or any modern trappings were used except perhaps a knife and some plastic plates. The stove :) , skewers etc were all from nature.

Bamboo dishes always taste good and smell nice. The aroma of simply cooking rice in them is so much more better than cooking with our rice cooker :P

Finding the bamboo would be pretty hard in Singapore :(

    Happy Father’s Day Beng!!!! :)

i cannot imagine bamboo cooking in urban Singapore :)
