Of banana cake, baked macaroni with cheese, chrysalis and chameleon

Just sharing pics of my supper tonight, baked macaroni with cheese and a slice of banana cake.

Today my topic for discussion is chrysalis and chameleons. A chrysalis will one day turn into a beautiful butterfly. It will enjoy the freedom of flitting from flower to flower and pollinating flowers and in the process, carry out its role in life.

A chameleon however changes its color to fit in with its surroundings. Many of us are like chameleons. With many masks, we fit into different situations with different masks and literally change our spots for example in the home, in the office, in a place of worship etc. However more often or not, the change is temporary. Have you ever wondered what would happen to a chameleon if it were placed in a multi-colored and multi-hued background. Possibly its necessity to change color would render its self protective color changing mechanism to go haywire.

For a chrysalis however, its status is temporary. Eventually it would turn out to be a beautiful creation of God. That is the way I look at children and adults. Children are like chrysalis. At a young and tender age, they are capable of being transformed into beautiful human beings. It is us jaded adults who are phony at least some of the time and chameleon like.

What differentiates adults from children possibly it has to do with perception and prejudice. A group of us were in a car when we saw a fair lady wearing a transparent yellow rain coat. It was weird as although she was wearing a knee length raincoat we could see her arms, her legs, her neck etc. Her skin was very fair under the light of the lamp post. She looked sexy as we could see her and yet not see her clearly. She was tall, wearing a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt. We couldn’t keep our eyes off her. She was walking along the road.

When the lights turned green, our car passed her by. The beautiful young lady turned out to be a woman in her late fifties. What a shock it turned out to be. We all saw what we wanted to see hence the reality was far different from our perception. :)

We wear a mask almost everyday. It’s necessary to fit into conditions. Like a warrior who wears his coat of armor in the battlefield, when he comes home to the family he wears…. well I don’t know what they wear those days, some fine linen..?

they wear credit cards n educational degrees and masters now

Beautiful, thought provoking and meaningful post Bengbeng.

Blatant truth of the chamelion like nature in us Humans… often with the intention of adjusting with others.

Interesting piece of life philosophy. I believe everyone of us is chameleon, hiding from others in one way of another. Like you never show your face here, so am I!

Have you recovered from the shock? Hehe.. Wandering eyes..

it was not really a shock but of a kind of disbelief. we had let our eyes lie to us
