bidayuh family

When two or more Chinese gather together, food is never absent, thank God! Philip decided we were hungry and our noses lead us to Mr Mejan’s stall. ( I hope I got the name correct. ) The one can of beer I had made me a little bit forgetful. :)

Mr Mejun is a Bidayuh community leader in Sibu. There are about 3000 Bidayuhs in Sibu I estimate. Most Bidayuhs can be found in Kuching and around Bau. For his hospitality, I extend a million thanks.

Philip acted like the Lord of the Manor and told Mr Mejun to bring some food for us without specifying his order or costs involved. This is the famous Bidayuh Pansuh chicken. Chicken pieces are stuffed into bamboo to be cooked over an open fire. The prices were very reasonable.

While we had our meal, the music from the cultural dances made a pleasant backdrop. Thanks Philip :) I appreciate this night’s treat.
