Benghui daddy

Sibu was flooded with a sea of maroon blue today. The reason being the 40 days of purpose program organized by the Sibu Wesley Methodist Church. Even normally stoic Mrs BB wondered aloud, “What on earth am I here for?” when she saw the sea of blue on the streets especially in the church vicinity. I would like to pass the question back to you ;) ,” what on earth are you here for?”

On the way to town today, I told Benghui to buckle up the seat belt. He was surprised because he was sitting in the back seat. He asked me why he should do so. He said he was in no danger. I explained to him it was the law. I then explained to him the law was the government. He was confused. He asked me shouldn’t the law be The Lord? Inadequate spiritual knowledge confuses a young impressionable mind. Never mind he has all the time in the world to learn. He is still young.

Anyway Benghui had a long talk with me. I knew he was serious as I could read his body language. He told me he wants to stop piano. He is not interested and has lost interest. He wants very much to join the Boys Brigade for the smart uniform, the marching, the games and the clapping codes. He doesn’t want to forgo wushu. I told him to make a choice. He doesn’t want to stop going to Sunday School.

He chose wushu and has committed himself to attending wushu class a few times a week now. He insists he doesn’t want to stop the computer tuition. I let him decide. I shouldn’t dictate to him.

For Sibu readers, I just want to inform you that Everwin Supermarket was thronged by shoppers today (Sunday) as news spread that vegetables and such stuff were being sold at a reasonable price and even cheaper than Sing Kwong Supermarket or Farley Supermarket. We went there to buy our groceries for the week. Some of the vegetables were even cheaper than the wet markets. A little competition is always healthy and consumers can heave a sigh of relief.

My blogging is still sporadic. This is because I still haven’t fully resolved my virus problem. Thus I might not immediately reply comments or visit other sites etc. My computer isn’t working well.

You can explain to him about the need to buckle up even for back seat passengers because in case of an accident even at moderate speed,

    1. Any passenger that gets thrown out of the car has a lower chance of survival.

    2. The rear seat passenger may be pushed forward and hit the front seat injuring both himself and endangering the front passenger.

Just back from Kuching today. The police already enforce the law for the back seat passenger to buckle up?

I agreed with what LC Teh says. The seat belts are for the safety purpose and that should be the only reason why we need to use seat belts. If you teach BengHui that the seat belts are just for shows to the police so that police wont issue summon, then in the future he would have many excuses not to use the seat belts. For example, no policemen around lar, the distance is short lar, no one is watching lar.
