My not so romantic night out
Sometimes in life we can plan but what happens is beyond our control
I spent a lot of time at the gym today and felt ravenously hungry. So I decided to take Mrs BB and Benghui for a romantic evening out. I drove over to a place opposite Li Hua Hotel which is supposed to be famous for its chicken cooked in bamboo ( pansuh ayam ). One look at some men smoking next to the only available table and Mrs BB suggested we go elsewhere. Dutifully, Benghui piped in that the table was next to the road and dangerous. ![]()
We then walked to a nearby restaurant but using a ‘long-cut’. Benghui was repeating what mummy had told him all along. Do not walk in dark areas. So we had to walk along bright streets. I thought of telling him his caution was unnecessary because daddy was there but thought perhaps it was a good thing for him to learn this lesson.
Upon spying a beef noodles stall, I proceeded to order but Mrs BB wasn’t hungry. ( forget all notions of a candlelight dinner or holding hands ) She just wasn’t hungry.
Benghui ordered a plate of kampua and a glass of barley. After which he proceeded to throw up because he was eating too fast.
Romance vs being practical
I then suggested to Mrs BB we take a walk along the esplanade and enjoy the cool river breeze near Kingwood Hotel. Benghui was quick to remind Mrs BB that she was carrying a handbag and it wasn’t safe. Mrs BB agreed that it was quite dark and not appropriate for an evening walk. I didn’t even have a chance to make a gesture of holding her hand before Benghui grabbed my hand instead.
” Daddy, I want to go home. I need to use the toilet. I have to check something on my computer ” Thus ended my planned night of romance
Sigh…sigh…

haha…
must be a potong-steamed night right right?
Benghui is somehow acting too smart? haha
The night is still young… still not too late for some romance
you can always have your romantic night..at home lor
u think we dont bring benghui homekah ? hahahahahaha
Hahaha! Poor Bengbeng! But I can feel for you. It’s like that when you have children. Only way to have “lomantico” nite is if you ask some nice “kai-pa” or Kai-ma” to look after him for a few hours a privilege I do not have. [Sighing deeply!] And Benghui is rite about the esplanade being dangerous at night. Sibu and everywhere else is no longer the same as it was 10 years ago when a girl can walk home alone late at nite and feel safe. Nowadays even in your own home also don’t feel safe. Anyway, still it’s a lovely that you have a family night out even if it’s not so romantic! ;D
u be benghui kaima?
Benghui reminds me of my own son who makes sure that he is in the middle of my wife and I no matter where we are…
hahahaha… its not easy to have a romantic night with kids ya..
Kesian papa Ah Beng.
Pardon Beng Hui for being “EM SIK Do lor!
Have romance behind closed pintu at home only lor! What to do got “aladdin lamp” around.
Lucky having 4 oredi, romance stil not a problem. My twins koko walked in front, I carry one ger and daddy carry the other. mami & Daddy still can hold hands. They never get jealous cz when it’s time for them they treasure, when it’s time for mami dadi romance..they watch VCD. He He He!
Instead of going home, you should check-in to a family room in Kingwood Hotel.Let Benghui plays/watches TV at one room and mummy and daddy can romance the night away……..
Ahem…where got couple bring their kid for romantic night out one?
Next time leave the kid at home if you really want some ‘romantic’ with Mrs. BB.
