This is an update from my garden and meant for Green Thumb Sunday. It is difficult for me to post often on Green Thumb Sunday as I don’t plant exotic flowers etc. I have a few flowers etc but those are colorful flowers but not exotic expensive blooms.
I thought it would be another lazy Sunday morning but it was not meant to be. For starters, I was ‘nagged’ to cut the grass in my garden. I did it early in the morning while the whole family was asleep. The old-fashioned way-using a ‘cutlass’ I think is the term? I won’t do it again soon. I rather pay the professional Rm14.00.
Anyway Mrs BB wants me to have the mango tree chopped down because it is an old tree. She says its spread makes the garden dark and encourages mosquitoes. Furthermore its fruits are not as fragrant as before. The harvest is so bountiful this year and I haven’t stopped eating mangoes since the fruiting season.
I have decided to turn a deaf ear. Every fruit is a culinary pleasure. Unless she pulls my ears
or something, I refuse to budge on this issue.
Imagine, this fruit is at eye level. The actual tree itself is about as high as a double storey building.
While cutting the grass, I noticed how much I have neglected the garden. This pomelo is bigger than my head and was hidden by tall grass. I will wait until I run out of fruits before I harvest this particular fruit. It feels good, heavy and full of juice.
Last night’s wind blew a few oranges down. Quite sweet now and juicy because it has been raining often the past few weeks.
The banana tree. The pest that won’t go away. No matter how much I try, the banana tree just keeps on coming back. Maybe I will burn the stump after I have eaten its fruit.
As for my starfruit, it is so leafy and green it wouldn’t believe it. But there are so few flowers and I haven’t had any of its fruits for a while. It seems so fertile but no fruits. I cannot understand.
Have a great week ahead every body.Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in for Green Thumb Sunday by visiting As the Garden Grows for more information. Join
