Land lease issue in Sarawak, supper at Tanahmas and RH Hotel

I am supposed to be on a diet but it isn’t easy when the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak. I was invited out last night. I thought it would be another session of a few kongpia or something but we ended up eating chicken wings, mee mamak and sandwiches at Tanahmas Hotel. I never expected it or I would have brought along my camera :(

Still hungry we decided to go to RH Hotel for supper. We had oxtail soup, rojak ( a dessert dish of sauce and local fruits and peanuts ) , leng chee kang and hot chocolate. We decided to go to the nearby RH disco, don’t ask me the name. I don’t remember. The Phillipino girls could really sing but the crowd wasn’t there so we decided to skip it and go home. Once again Benghui was waiting for me to come home.

He is big enough to be able to trust me. I wonder why he is like that.

Tonight I was again invited to supper and fortunately we had only lakia noodles, cha koay teow ( flat type noodles )and lakia chai ( a type of vege fried with an egg ). I also learned tonight how the land lease issue has wreaked havoc in the lives of the people in Salim and Jalan Oya thereabouts.

One of my friends was frantically looking around for money to pay for an extension to his land lease within 30 days or he would lose his land. He is going crazy with worry.

Landowners of agricultural land now reclassified as suburban land in Salim and Oya Road have to pay hefty premium to extend their leases. These landowners had been allowed extension for 60 years but at a price.

Waa… cannot eat too much already! So sad to hear about the land lease issue. As usual, not much coverage about that in newspapers here. And I don’t understand why people still think buying leasehold property is “no big deal”.

from unconfirmed sources, the highest to b paid is about 947k, the lowest is till in the tens of thousands

Yes, I know your problem too well. So many food and we are just weak! I’m going for a buffet next week - I already foresee it’ll be disastrous to my diet. Well, will work it off the next day after that! Haha!
