This is Lai Meng in a scene from Money Not Enough 2. What shall we do with our parents when they grow old and feeble? Will you sign them up in an old folks home? Would you like to be assigned to an old folks home? Remember what goes around comes around.
But real issues are discussed in this movie. A Singapore producton, it is a hard-hitting jab at the realities of modern living and our evolving modern day values.
Lai Meng as usual is at her best in front of a camera. I can remember her back to the days of the weekly series, Empat Sekawan or Li Kor Bo Wa Eh Kor literally translated meaning your troubles are not mine. She has outlived most of her own peers on television. I wonder what happened to Ah Ying. Does anybody know?
Lai Meng is on the list of artistes who receives pension under a scheme for ageing artistes.

This is a wonderful movie – I cried watching it. I’ve seen Empat Sekawan, but at that time, I was very small. I think Ah Ying or Hon Ying if I remember correctly, she’s still acting in some local Chinese dramas a few years back. No more acting now, I think.
a very nice show.
makes people reflect on what they have done.
Touching. and i cried again upon watching the video. )’:
I realised it’s better to cry in the cinema’s darkness but we watched at home. Urgh! I think Hon Ying is still alive, my friend said so too. I can track her down right to her home address as our ad agency often had to hire talents. Want?
ya bengbeng, she’s the best actress in the whole movie. and then hor.. most of my friend cried watching this movie, even a 100 kg man also cried like a baby, its too touching.
One of my fav movie!! She’s a good actress..
i agree – an unbelieveably good movie!!
