Upon arrival in Penang, the first thing I did was to hunt for the hawker stalls. I went to a place called Super Tanker. I saw a sign Sungai Ara I think a few minutes before that so I assume it is in that area. I had Cha Mee suah ( fried vermicelli ), Penang cha koay teow, otak-otak, fried oysters, curry mee and assam laksa. My host looked at me in bewilderment. He said, “You look as if you haven’t eaten in years.”
I assure you I finished them all. Unlike in Sibu, everything is served in small portions.

Otak-otak. I absolutely adored it. I asked the hawker how to eat it. With noodles or with rice. She just smiled and asked me where I was from. She asked me to eat it just like that. For fun. Rm1.80

Omg. How I have missed this humble dish. Aptly called curry mee. I love the taste of the chunks of blood. Rm2.50
I did not eat at LCCT ( Air Asia’s own low cost carrier terminal ) It was so crowded at that time. I didn’t feel like queing up just to order food. After that we went to a place called The Lodge to meet some outstation friends. It is a lovely old bungalow and the rates are very reasonable. Best book early as occupancy is very high. Definitely a good budget hotel for those who want to enjoy Georgetown and the city life. Very clean and safe. No worries on that score. The profile of guests as I saw it were mostly local families and young foreigners.

Sibu Ah Pek slept like a log last night.
Traveling and being in transit is a tiring and boring exercise.

After this, some how I am going to find my way to Sungai Petani for hashing. I hope I can survive that run
Anyway if anything happens, Bernard will be there so I am not too worried haha.
Waking up this morning and looking at the sea with the Penang Bridge so near, maybe it is my imagination I feel as if I can smell the sea but I can definitely hear the sea. It is great to be in Penang. The island of great food and hospitable people.

But this condominium living with shared communal living takes a bit of adjusting too. The plus side are the facilities and the security. The downside is the high cost of purchase and the maintenance fees. I could get used to this gym, swimming pool, wading pool, children playground etc. The good and easy life.
I wonder what will happen if I tell Mrs BB I want to buy another condo over here.
I worry about collecting rentals as I have experienced tenants who give all sorts of excuses or just disappear with the furniture. Furthermore I live so far away.
For regular readers, I am sorry if the pics take ages to download. Forget abt the pics. I will replace them with smaller file pics when I have access to photoshop.
