Flood situation update

I wonder if this scene is repeated in quite a number of homes in Sibu today. Mrs BB took one look at the smelly, oily and dirty water and just sat down on the sofa, defeated. She had spent so much time and effort spring cleaning the house and compound just a week ago for the Chinese New Year.

Sibu, Sarawak flooded again

I heard a neighbour banging at the gate. Oopi was barking like crazy. This grandma sort of person who is at least seventy years old warned me to bring my car to higher ground. I did as she asked me to. There were other cars already there. At first I thought it wasn’t necessary but half an hour later, I realized I owe her a big favor.

Photohunters, cute baby and the theme furry

This week’s theme is furry and what could be more furry than a monkey and a sheepskin :) . Add in a cute little baby and you have an explosive combination for a beautiful pic. I love this kid. Sweet disposition and always smiles when given attention and inquisitively exploring a whole new world .

From chinese new year

When you hear her cute giggle
You’ll start “aahing” and “oohing,”
And she’ll soon reply back
By “ga ga” and “goo gooing.”

From chinese new year

Those big innocent eyes
See a world strange and new;
To make sense of it all
She’ll look only to you.

From chinese new year

So cherish this time
Of miraculous things–
The excitement and wonder
That a new baby brings.

When Children Lose Their Innocence

The innocence of childhood it is a marvellous thing
And all children are untainted in their life’s early Spring

From chinese new year

But by the time they’ve reached their teens their innocence they’ve lost
And the experience that we gain from age always comes at a cost.

The second day of the Chinese New Year passed in a whirl. I don’t know how the time passed. Other than playing hide-and-seek with Alex and Wongpk, the day was quite uneventful :) . I have been expecting them for two days already :)

Virtual Chinese New Year visit to my home

2009

Sometimes I wonder why I go through the motions of celebrating Chinese New Year but when I see the older generation’s faces lighting up during the reunion dinner or the children’s faces sparkling with glee as they open their red packets ( ang pows ) , it makes it all worthwhile.

This year, I invite you all to a virtual Chinese New Year visit to my humble home.

From chinese new year

Nothing much to indicate it is the festive season except perhaps these lanterns hung to the air-conditioner. :)

We were invited to a friend’s place for a reunion dinner. It was wonderful to just arrive, eat and then smile and then just leave. So little trouble involved hahahah. Benghui of course was very glad for the company too.

There was an intruder in my house yesterday. Look at my unpitted Sunsweet prunes. Not yet Chinese New Year and it already feels so light. I started to grumble and grumble. :(
