Benghui : Daddy, which long pants should I wear?
Daddy : The black one. ( easy question..he has only one pair of long pants)
Benghui : Which pair of shoes should I wear daddy?
Daddy; I don’t know . You decide.
Benghui : I have a pair of slippers, a pair of school shoes and a pair of wushu shoes.
Daddy : Wear your school shoes.
Sometimes, I suspect this kind of conversation is initiated by him as a form of communication. This comes back to my new year resolution. For this coming year, I intend to spend more time with my family especially with Benghui. This is a time when he astonishes me with his personality. He is no longer just my child but a person in his own right. Lillian once in a reply to my comment told me not to feel too responsible for kids and their misdeeds because they have to be responsible for them too.

Anyway, he surprised us with his rendition of koay teow thng. Edible and quite okay. I mean it is something we wouldn’t complain about. In the past he had watched and observed. This time he had done it without our supervision or knowledge. I thought it best not to encourage or discourage him because cooking with a stove has its own dangers. But he has done it. All we have to do is to dip the koay teow and brussel sprouts in hot water and then add some soup.

Auntie Benghean gave him some painting materials and he decided to give his Santa Claus painting to me as a Christmas present. It is already one week late but better late than never. I know he doesn’t have any money as we only give him pocket money on school days.
Note the remote control car. Away from Mrs BB, I bought it and risked facing facing her wrath because it is not an educational toy.
Anyway she said, ” Nothing better to buy huh?, and proceeded to get batteries for Benghui so I think I am off the hook.

He has also started to ask questions. I wonder how he will turn out in the future when he is a grown man.

But that is life. Life is an endless cycle. We do our bit and move on. I have told Mrs BB that we should provide for ourselves financially and ensure the kid has every opportunity to make it on his own. It is up to him to lead his own life. If he should turn out to be a filial son, it will be a bonus but I won’t stop breathing while waiting for it to happen.

One of the reasons I went to Penang was this development project called The Spring Condominium by IJM. There was to be a release of unsold bumi units. But I changed my mind.
The majority of web readers are young people and therefore rarely think of impending sunset unlike this Sibu Ah Pek. I was thinking this The Spring would be a good home for Benghui if he were studying in USM or something but in the end, Mrs BB convinced me the condo if we can call it that we already have should be sufficient. How many units does a boy need? I hesitate to remind her that by then he would be a man with a family one day and not a boy forever.
Wait a year or two she said for prices to stabilize. Perhaps she is right. It is a commitment that I am not particularly looking forwad to anyway.

Parents never stop worrying abt their kids.. .No wonder my parents are like that. Happy New Year ya

Waiting for 2009 to appear,
Now that 2009 is already here,
