I really don’t know how to feel. From early morning I have been plotting and scheming so as not to get caught up in the flood waters. I have had to brave myself to drive through flooded roads and say a silent prayer each and every time.

This after noon my car almost stalled while another four cars who were ahead of me stalled along Pedada Road. I spent the past few nights preparing for the worst. I have received calls from friends whose houses were flooded and property damaged. Farmers lost their crops. People unable to go to work and children unable to go to school.

In the past it used to be once in a long space of time and could be blamed on the quirks of mother nature. It has now become so common place that it is like a house guest that just won’t go home.
Do the Sarawak people really deserve this kind of treatment?
Is it a wonder then that the people should feel something deep down in their souls when they see the muddy swirling waters flood the roads, surge into their homes and disrupt their lives.
Steps should be taken to immediately to address the flood problem . I pray some where out there there is still some one in authority who still feels something for the woes of the Sarawak people.
How many times do we have to experience floods before something concrete is done?
Thanks to the following for borrowed pics and to read more->

If we put the blame always on God’s shoulders then we should write a letter to him. But can some body or any body please furnish me the address? Better still, let us all play our part in making our world a better place for every body.

People are praying all over tonight.

I think first of all … should thanks to our lovely government whom always ignore the environment … just focus on Development development … money! money! money!.
You will have to bear with this for years to come… the rainforests in Sarawak has been turn into all kinds of development… The green lung in the city has slowly give way to development and disappeared… These plants were the source to absorb all the water… now without this source … where the water will go? Your home! :p
I don’t know to blame government or it’s just a mother-natural thing. I believe that because Sibu closer to Rejang river, and global warming keep raising the sea level.
However, Sibu development is fierce now, and they did not do a proper preparation on preventing flood. So how?
Please take a look at my housing area also if possible
This few days has been following update with my mom…
Bengbeng, your house affected by the flood too? I thought just only Apollo area only.
send some water down here brader! I have to collect grey water from my washing machine to water the garden wei! u steal all my water! hahahaha blame it on us all lah becoz of us we changed the environment that causes climate changes so now we all suffer the consequences.
Wow, the flood really sucks, man! Good thing your car didn’t stall.
Can’t imagine what it must be like and not very keen to find out.
wow
it was THAT bad???
you better believe it
Hey…you guys voted for the govt, so who else to be blamed except the Sarawakians. If they fail to deliver, then it is time to have them replaced with someone more capable and responsible come the next state elections.
interesting food for thought
Hi, I used some of your photos for my blog post titled “Sarawak Flood Jan 2009: Compilation of photos from various blogs and forums”. Come have a look when you are free.
not all the pics are mine too
Your house flooded? Thought your area high and dry. The tide ok, the water level in the area not too high…only us in the Sg Merah watershed so sial!!
No water in the house compound now but the drains by the roadside still full and the water’s not moving! I hear got people constructing something somewhere and blocked the drainage. These people should be arrested and imprisoned!!
Btw, why would you need to use Pedada Road, I wonder???
P.S.:
Bintulu also flooded? And Lundu? What I know is Sri Aman was the first town to be flooded…and I hear Dalat is also flooded.
if my info is wrong, i stand corrected. Thanks.
The sad thing is, come every General Election, people forget this perennial problem and the resulting sufferings/tragedies, and vote back the very same government who has not done a thing to mitigate it.
i feel sorry for the victims. hope the authorities can do something. maybe u need to highlight this to the press as well.
Else where officials are executed for less!!
But it depends on the investigation and determination of the PEOPLE.
We have forgotten : Government for the people with the people by the people…(Lincoln)
But I think most people follow this : See no evil hear no evil say no evil.
So terrible the flood now, what to do to fix this problem eh?
Hope water drains away fast and life returns to normal for you and your fellow Sibu-ians.
the worst is over for now. the next period to worry is on the 27th of this month

Didn’t know it was that bad..
Change the Sarawak Government! Start with Sibu by-election! SUPP is just another BN “yes man”. C’mon, wake up Sarawakians… time for change.
