Virtual Chinese New Year visit to my home

Sometimes I wonder why I go through the motions of celebrating Chinese New Year but when I see the older generation’s faces lighting up during the reunion dinner or the children’s faces sparkling with glee as they open their red packets ( ang pows ) , it makes it all worthwhile.

This year, I invite you all to a virtual Chinese New Year visit to my humble home.

Nothing much to indicate it is the festive season except perhaps these lanterns hung to the air-conditioner. :)

Some visitors are brave enough to have a show down with Oopi but few can out stare crazy Oopi. The brave ones, the couldn’t care less ones prefer to have their refreshments outside the home. But to Oopi, any stranger to the home is a potential enemy. :) Ouch… Oopi can bite and will bite if provoked. But it will normally be in its own enclosure when visitors drop by.

Upon entry you will see this recycled vase with flowers clumsily put up by me in a matter of minutes. I did it because Benghui was saying our house is not ‘merry’ enough. Let us not giggle at my non existent flower arrangement skills but think of it as an exercise to inject some color to the house. :)

You will see this sign meaning fortune or good luck hung upside down. It will bring in luck to the home for the coming year. It has never failed to do so therefore faithfully I bring it out to hang every festive season. :)

Help yourself to some tidbits. The choices are Benghui’s but obviously they have to be vetted by Mrs BB first for nutritional content. No alcohol in the house. Not a drop :) Wives can be a spoilsport sometimes.

Take a pic of this tiffin if you wish but do not handle it. It is very old and antique.

So sorry, only softdrinks are available. :)

However I must warn you not to expect much hospitality if the television is on. He is crazy over the telly. I gave him two days: today and tomorrow. No homework, studies or reading in the daily activities. He is so happy and intends not to waste a single minute.

We chat a while and soon you have to go. Bye and please come again soon :) Hope you enjoyed our hospitality. ahahha ehehe
