I had blogged about losing 3kg in a month. I failed. Instead I took 50 days. Initially I didn’t seem to lose weight at all. Until I changed my diet.

A Chinese sinseh or one trained to be a doctor practicing Chinese traditional medicine however told me for my age losing 3kg in 50 days was okay rather than to lose weight in a month. In the first place, he said I didn’t have that much to lose anyway.

Anyway if you are on the same dieting journey, let me tell you how I lost weight. A bit slower than I expected though. First was my eating schedule. It used to be I wouldn’t eat after seven in the evening or something like that. Because I go to the gym in the evening, I would end up eating ravenously the next morning. Now I space out my meals. Three main meals a day like regular people.

Second, I avoid almost all fried food, rice and noodles whenever possible. Zero kampua noodles ,kueh tiaw etc. Occasionally I order vermicelli soup or something like that. I have given up cheese cake. :)

From food

For my main meals for example I would eat boiled/microwaved fish, chicken etc with lots of vegetables and fruits and just a little porridge or rice. I never felt hungry and seem to need less to feel full nowadays. Occasionally of course I feel like a break and cook like crazy to Benghui’s delight but I eat smaller portions.

I love the rush and beat of the music while doing step exercise. As for workout at the gym, I concentrate more on running and walking nowadays. The aerobic exercises rather than lifting or pulling weights. Consequently I am also smaller in size which is a relief :)

I seem to feel less lethargic, and am more energetic at the gym. A friend commented that basically my new diet means less carbohydrates and more proteins. He is right and it works. I have been losing about a kg every ten days.

My next target is to lose 3kg in another 50 days or by June 10th, 2009. I think I will be satisfied to remain at that weight. Even if you are not overweight, why not opt for some exercise and enjoy yourself? :)

A reader once commented how come I don’t have the buffed look or how come I don’t lift for example 100kg. The answer is that the emphasis is different. If I can keep down my blood sugar level, cholesterol and blood pressure, that will be reward enough. ( excuse my old man/ah pek talk :) )
