When it is ready. it will be seaworthy.

Oh, the bark of the tree? I stuff it between the planks to make it water-tight.

I pounded this into powder. It is made from ‘hasil laut’ or something from the sea. The wood can be obtained from the forest. Other than a fifteen horse power engine and a coat of point, this boat will be ready soon.
Go ahead . Take my pic. I don’t mind.

They need a boat to go out to sea and fish. Most people in this village use a 15 horse power engine. It may be slow but fuel consumption is lower this way. All the boats look the same to you? Everyone of us has our own distinctive style. The kampung people can tell who built whose boat

yeah cool!!! i wanna know more about the kampung stuff there =p of course it’s would be hard for us, orang luar to spot the different styles of the boats ya
Great post, Bengbeng! Something so different and unusual.
(The man in the first pic seems have lost a part of his forefinger, felt really sorry for him. The hardships they undergo! )
Boat builders are skilled craftsmen. What’s the hasil laut stuff? Looks like some kind of paste.
