Green Acres : do you still remember it? TV as it was 43 years ago complete with commercials. Compare commercials of the sixties with present day commercials. TV was white and black then, didn’t you know? :)

How many of you still remember Green Acres, Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor. Great clean entertainment of another generation for most of you younger bloggers :) Btw, did you enjoy the short comedy clip?

Lucky draw and Sibu people are so lucky

An otherwise routine afternoon atmosphere at work changed into elation when I received a call. I had won a free two nights and three days stay at a leading hotel in town. It was a lucky draw. My whoops of excitement raised eyebrows among my colleagues. They asked me to tell them the reason for my happiness.

The Parent’s Prayer and Badfinger Carry On Till Tomorrow

For many of us, initially marriage seems like a bed of roses. No expense is spared in planning for the wedding. It has to be perfect to the smallest detail. The honeymoon soon fades away however when kids invade the family space. With kids come headaches and responsibilities. Inevitably the parents always dig up from resources from deep down somewhere they never existed to mould and guide the kids whilst at the same time realize their interests always come second to the needs of the kids.

Pantene : You can shine

2009
06.28

I received this video via facebook. Thanks LKB. It is a Pantene commercial. The heroine is of course a beautiful girl but she is deaf. She overcomes all adversities to prove to the world she can overcome and success comes her way. It is a typical Hollywood thingy with an adversary ( the girl on the piano and socety in general ) and a good friend and supporter ( the street busker ) being beaten up.

From Benghui

Hello everybody,

How are you? I am happy. Yesterday I had my Boys Brigade test. It was hard. I don’t know if I can pass. I hope i can pass the white award. I studied very hard. This morning I went to Sunday school. The bully was not there. I am happy. I am not afraid of him. I have done no wrong.

From Benghui

Daddy gave me permission to watch youtube after I am tired from studying.

Indonesian maid and an old man’s sad tale of woe

Character : early 80s
Location : Lanang Polyclinic

Mr Wong : You are waiting to see the doctor? ( I sighed and said yes. I knew I would have a difficult time as my comprehension of the Foochow language is at best rudimentary. )

Mr Wong’s tale: I am so sad. I don’t know how it happened. First we were a happy home. We lived an hour away near Sarikei. My land was rich with fruits and vegetables. I was living with my sister’s single daughter. I call her daughter. It was not perfect but still we got along some how. Then entered a new third person to form a triangle.
