From Fishing in Bintulu

Hi! I am Marcel Wee. I thank all of you who wrote comments congratulating us on our catch. I never thought I would one day write a post on mylongkang.com

From Fishing in Bintulu

The seas off Sarawak are rich with fish.

Fishing is a great hobby. A healthy one too. It is also sometimes called a macho hobby. Hahahah

I have learned a lesson. Always bring a cooler big enough to contain the fish caught. Otherwise it will not be fresh by the time we reach home.

There is some skill involved of course but anybody can catch fish if they have the commitment. Haha If Bengbeng can go fishing anybody also can haha.

A certain degree of fitness is necessary of course as the fish can be heavy sometimes. I am the gym master of Kingwood Gym.

You will learn through experience the best tackle, reel, fishing rod, hooks, weights etc. Generally the more expensive the equipment, the better it is. The expense is worth it. The worst thing a fisherman can experience is when the fish gets away because of unsuitable fishing equipment

Patience is the key to a good catch. Keep an eye or perhaps better two eyes open. Look. Observe. Learn from the others especially the fishing boat crew. They go fishing all the time. They have caught more fish than we can ever eat. Observe the sea too. It can be our friend. It can also be our enemy. Never take risks. Never let your guard down even for a moment.

From Fishing in Bintulu

Once we saw fish of all sizes jumping up and down in the water. The skipper saw it and took us away from the rich fishing ground immediately. We demanded for an explanation.

From Fishing in Bintulu

He explained there are dirty spiritual elements in the ocean. My hair stood on end. He said we must be careful with our conversation. When something unusual happens, it is best to play safe. So we beat a hasty retreat. There is always fish in the sea. We don’t want anything to happen to us in the sea or to you. It is called pantang larang or ‘taboos’ in the English language that we must observe while we are fishing.

I still can’t believe I have written a post with Bengbeng’s help hahah. I encourage you all to go fishing. Beat stress. Enjoy yourselves. I hope you enjoyed my post hahha. Our next fishing trip is to Lucornia Reef. It is a 2 nights, 3 days trip. It is about 10 hrs from the nearest shore.
