| From Borneo Dayak Cutural Festival Night 2009 |
I decided to experiment more with my Nikon 40x using the manual mode. It was difficult at first. In the first place, I had to contend with the low light conditions. Another problem I faced was the speed with which the dancers moved. Anyway, you can see where I have improved and how in some ways, there is much more I need to learn in terms of aperture and speed. Another problem I faced was the platform I was standing on vibrated whenever there was loud music. Anyway, I am like the dancer who claims the floor is uneven. Enough of excuses ![]()

As you can see, it was again a night of pomp and ceremony.

This was a very fast movement. Wushu movement.

I had to adjust fast with the changing light conditions for this pic. This couple seemed to enjoy themselves dancing and it shows in the relaxed pose and their calm composure.

I love the way this lady plays with her shawl. My hands shook. Overall the photos in this post are not sharp. You could say I was too ‘cincang’ or kelam-kabut. I wasn’t confident with the manual mode.
I welcome comments and suggestions. I have been planning to buy a tripod but the thought of spending more money on this hobby puts me off. Anyway, I haven’t decided which type of tripod is suitable for me.

Nice shots. I wonder if I can snap such photos because all the pictures I have captured is rather shaky because the subjects are moving.
Anyway I like the second shot.
It takes a lot of time and patience
I know some chinese words to describe your photo skill. “Li Hai”
Thanks brother. Thanks too for lunch with me and Victorl
Actually is Nikon 40X or 40D ? Coz my sister just bought a Nikon 60D and the camera is great
mine is an old camera which i bought second hand but in perfect condition 40x
I don’t think I will able to capture this type of photos with my camera
I thought the same thing too until i experimented more and more with the camera. i took many duds too for every successful pic
You have improved a lot! The first picture is still the best in my opinion!
i was waiting for her to turn at this point becoz by then i could read her dancing movements..
im using nikon d40 ..i think quite similar to 40x..now i only know it can take so nice photo..i will learn skill from u somedays
I like the 2nd photo. D40x is very good camera.
Nice pics. Well done!
