Photohunters: garbage

Photohunter’s theme for this week is garbage. The word garbage does have some negative connotations in the minds of some. However for some, it is a means of earning a living.

I was taking a shot of something else when this guy accidentally turned up in the pic. I hadn’t noticed him when I was taking this pic. Basically what he does is he collects stuff which can be recycled and sold off like aluminium cans, glass bottles, metal scraps and that which he deems is able to be sold off.

I think it’s great what these people do. The more items sorted out of the garbage and recycled, the less space taken up in landfills, and he gets to earn a living.

It is not an easy living though

Have a similar story and photo on my blog to yours Bengbeng. Different country but… oh, the humanity!

Humanity oh…such a big word but what you say is true.. but HK and M’sia are culturally quite similar due to high percentage of ethnic Chinese

i am afraid i am not very successful in this aspect but we dont generate much waste in the home except for kitchen waste but our dog consumes most of it and we dont read newspapers except online. plastic bag are recycled as are most plastic containers

    Great catch.
I remember these guys from Kuwait.
We have them here too. But here they mainly check for bottles with refund on them to bring back to the shop.

back to the pic, i observed this guy, he is living on fringe of poverty…. definitely not a glam job. Notice I have pixalated his pic
