Body building: Keeping fit, treadmill, cycling and leg exercises

A reader commented that instead of body building, she prefers the treadmill. That is actually a very good option if the intention is to lose weight, be fit and healthy and body building is not emphasized.A brisk jog on the treadmill or a run will do wonders for the metabolic rate of a person. Some gym goers equate the treadmill and other similar machines as warming-up machines. But do not underestimate the power of aerobic exercise as opposed to heavier body building exercises.

Many people like the act of cycling. It is also a great workout. But once we pay for membership in a gym, we might as well make full use of its facilities.

I might be off the mark but I liken this act to skiing :)

This is a ’stair stepper’. It is equivalent to climbing stairs. Just watch the calories burn away. It is harder than it looks after a while. However many prefer a more aggressive way of building their leg muscles. In this post I introduce a few exercises for you to attempt.

This is the Leg Curl or Hamstring Curl

Lunge with dumbbell

Leg Press

Leg Extension

This is an awesome exercise. You raise and lower your foot with a barbell on your shoulders.

Alternatively you can also squat and then straighten your leg and then repeat it again and again.

Watch all your extra kgs melt away in a matter of months. Somebody once said no matter what she does, the extra kgs just won’t melt away. Of course some form of control over the diet is required. I would like to end this post by saying that when we workout, we use up calories. On a long term basis, no form of exercise will fail to bring about results.

I however have a long long way to go before I can shed all my excess kgs. :) I love to eat too much. :)

Happy exercise everybody. :)

Many thanks to Mr Marcel Wee for permission to take pics in Kingwood Gym and being agreeable to be a model on some of the pics.

Another way to lose weight and up your cardio fast is plyometrics but i have to admit it is very intense though. :)

hmmm … you gym allow you to be half naked. the gym that i went no one is going to take off their shirt …

    Must have proper attire :p

difficult to answer this question cos each gym is different. it is fully aircond, part of the gym is a swimming pool, deck terrace to watch the Rejang River surrounded by flowers n the hotel is ever ready to serve you with waiters in full uniform n fine cutlery just a call away. there is also jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna. so it is difficult to define where to wear suitable clothing n not to b suitably attired

I prefer to jog. But sometimes it is dangerous to jog on the road. So treadmill is still considered a good investment. Too bad my house is no where to place it. :p

    Exercising is good for health…

I can’t afford gyms so I do my at home. Abdomen Board and Jumping Jacks. Losing the weight seems to be slow for me well, like you I love eating hahaha… But it keeps us healthy too ;) .

Make sure to warm up before the exercise. Need to loosen the old bones for a new life :P .

especially since my bones are ancient :)

I can’t get to the gym, so I put together some YouTube exercise videos to make my own routine. :)
