Update : Mrs BB laughed and said nobody will read this post because it is too long and irrelevant to most readers.
It is true I am really too chong hei or long winded.
Now that Benghui’s tests are over, i will have to plan stuff for him to do. I think his Boys Brigade activities have already stopped for the year. Other than wushu, piano, Sunday school, choir and tuition time with me, I really got nothing for him to do.
| From wushu tournament sibu 2009 |
This is my list of things for him to do to keep him busy.

12. Feed the fish daily and change the water in the aquarium once a fortnight.
( I will print the above list in the form of a table with dates etc and everytime he does his chores, either Benghui or me will mark it on the table. )
Oh dear, looking at the lists makes me feel his life is so dreary. But what else can i do to make him busy? He does not know how to entertain himself so he needs to be kept busy all the time. I am so busy this month and next month.
At the same time, I realize the window period where I bond with him is slowly closing as he approaches his teenage years. Another thing is that my television set has been out of order for a long time. We don’t watch tv in my family. If I fail to keep Benghui out of mischief this coming long, long, long school holidays I just might have to buy a television set soon. But that is the last thing I want to do.
For parents, please share with us the things you have planned for the kids.

Not a parent me, but I can’t help noticing that time/interaction with same age peers (friends, cousins etc) is nowhere on the list.
u got a valid point. that will have to come from his wushu, Sunday school n choir. we live in a neighbourhood where everybody lives behind locked gates and Cassie i am so glad to hear from u again.
Wow… he’s like ur little maid! hahahaha
Let it be, let it be, and let it be.
The long list is, ahhhhh, too suffering to me as well.
(Is benghui reading?)
hahahahhahahahhaahhahhahaa i agree with rainfield…hello it is a HOLIDAY!!!!! hahahaha unless if u pay him lar…hahahha i think BH will be very happy to read this..so many ppl are on his side…i think instead of asking him to do so many stuffs…why not let him rest? not so packed…didnt we always pity kids these days? they are busier than the adults…hahahah btw BH,your bedroom is HUGE!!!!!
Wow! Thats a long list. But its well rounded.
buy an origami book and a roll of coloured paper. it’s so cool.
probably spending time with family members would also be good…and…if being paid for chores will motivate him to do more of it…!!lol…
Haha. I guess Benghui will have a meaningful holidays and no time to feel bore with the list you had for him. Hehe.
I think generation gap happens to every father and son.
Now that my sons are working, I miss the good old days when they were screaming at each other during school break! Just let him have fun of doing nothing sometimes, after all he worked hard during the other times.
Woah that’s a long list.
What about badminton or bicycle time with just the 2 of you.
personal maid free to do work now that school’s over for the year! ngek ngek!
ummm don’t you think it’s a lot of tasks for a little boy? hehe even adults will be busy doing all those chores!
Kesian Benghui! LOL
But hey…I’m sure he can have lots of fun out of it.
BH: I so kelian, work started today
It would be nice if you add him to do caligraphy, arts lessons from Joseph Kho .. he is a very nice teacher coupled with his mrs.. my 3 children all started very young in this arts tuition centre and he wants own creation rather than his idea..
CAligraphy – go to Hardin Walk there n ask one old man who can write very well.. hope he is still around.. very reasonable tuition fees too..
In music, if your son is interested in flute, guitar, also GU Zen a type of chinese musical Inst. just go ahead to Sibu Chinese Cultural Arts.. get the inform. from Civic Centre and learn more from there..
Other than that, plse don let your child works like a robot too.. hahahahah. he has his years of growing up too.. go cycling with him just fun esp. in your own housing estate, sure you will have laugh until stomach out… u can try urself too.. hahahahaha..
hope you have fun time growing up with a young boy…
Thank you for all your suggestions. I will keep them all in mind. Not only me but the whole of Sibu now has ideas on how to let the kids pass the holiday season. As for cycling, i am a little fearful because of the traffic. About robot i think is not a problem as i am trying to teach him responsibility. I am trying to assimilate him into some circle or something. he has almost no friends outside of his wushu or church whom he meets only sporadically.
omg! indeed…a maid!
kids treated like this retaliate later when they reach their teens.
On the contrary i think it is good for character building. We are very close
