Mylongkang does not have many readers. Occasionally search engines send in a reader or two but the bulk of my readers are regulars or related to photohunters or monochrome maniacs. Nevertheless I have always tried to position my blog as middle-of-the-road in terms of political stance or whatever, being extra careful not to ruffle any feathers. We never know who might be reading our blogs.
It was a surprise then when I received a call from an ex-PKR councilor from Perak. He recognized it was me behind my blog although there was no pic of myself anywhere. He telephoned me to confirm it. He had been reading mylongkang on and off for some time he said. He then regaled me with news about the happenings in his home state and in a joking manner related how he was booted out of office after a short stint when the state government was overthrown by the ruling coalition. He recounted how at a meeting they postponed imposing parking fees on new parking lots so as not to burden the rakyat in these difficult times. That was definitely food for thought. The rakyat came first. He also told me about this where a fellow friend of us is staying.
His call also brought to mind the ex-Gerakan councilor, who had feted me to a scrumptious meal the last time I was in West Malaysia. He even sent me pics taken on his mobile phone to my email address as I did not bring my camera.
The point I want to make is politicians are also human. It is incorrect to make generalizations. Make observations, criticisms if we want to but back it with specific issues or quotes from the individuals involved. If possible provide references from reputable publshed sources like the press etc. Remember there is only a thin line between constructive criticism and being labeled libelous. Also for fellow bloggers, it will be wise for you to read Sonny Zulhuda.wordpress.com
Have a great weekend.
you are right… everyone who reads are humans.. before we get solid proof, we should not condemn this people. which is why we need to consider people’s feelings when we do something or feature them in our blogs.
Sometimes I think twice when commenting about current events… hmmm
That’s why they say….look before you leap right? :p But I know my blog…sometimes can be quite a nuisance to other readers. :p
Agree… there are thousands of other topics to write about. However, sometimes out of anger or disappointment we may fire off a blog post or comment without thinking.
Also interesting to note that you have friends in high places
to me, politics is an art.its either you have full control of your brushstrokes or you overshoot.and in a piece art,its never finished – it can always be painted over again or continues.so politician or no politicians – we’re all earthlings…hehe
i tot u ran into troubles….but u were always so mild hahahah….
that’s why I prefer to just stay away from political matters or any current issues that can stir people’s thinking
You should enrol yourself in politics. hahahaha.
Luckily I always only blog about my baby and nothing more.
Apart from ocassional LKY admiration.
And I wonder if I shld get a medal or something for worshipping LKY as my idol ;P
Merry Christams.
