How many of you have heard of Dame Julie Elizabeth Andrews? I guess not many considering the demographics survey source Alexa on my blog. The average age is 25 to 44 with the majority between 35 to 44. My readers are predominantly well educated females and also men with no children. Most of them surf from the comfort of their homes. ![]()
Anyway with those findings, a safe bet is most of you haven’t heard of Dame Julie Andrews. When Sound of Music made its debut forty four years ago in 1965, it took the world by storm. The handsome Christopher Palmer, the young sweet and innocent Julie Andrews literally fresh out of a convent and the seven adorable children, throwing in the beauty of Saltzburg and the drama of war,it was destined to be a phenomenal success.
Fast forward forty years, looking at the original cast now and forty years before, we will be amazed to see how much difference 40 years can make in one’s appearance. Watch forty years of transformation. Julie is still as charming as ever
Julie Andrews was born on 1 October 1935. Her voice spanned four octaves until it was damaged by a throat operation in 1998. She has never taken a step backwards. On the contrary, she has always updated herself to catch up with the times. Here she is singing with John Denver and Placido Domingo
She is still very much active. Read BBC here.
The question I wish to throw to you dear readers and myself today is what mental image do you have of yourself at seventy four ( 74 ).
Coincidentally I saw probably my oldest reader last Monday. He was reading my blog with the font adjusted to a large size. He was telling me this Bengbeng is so funny
He was reading my interesting characters category. I didn’t tell him I was Bengbeng. It wouldn’t be nice to disillusion him
Politicians better be aware. It is no longer the youths and middle aged who surf the internet nowadays. This uncle also reads RPK, Malaysiakini and The Star or so he said. When I asked him if he still regularly reads the daily newspapers he said,: I cannot adjust the font size in the newspapers.” hahahahahahah
Beng, between us we do have lots of things in common. Julie Andrews is certainly one of them…
I remember “Mary Poppins”
I have known Julie Andrews since I was in Form Two…I think she is going to influence and inspire many generations of young children (if allowed)
