The Chinese New Year mood is already here in Sibu. Whatever one says about the state of the economy, the festivities are still being celebrated with much rejoicing and much looked forward to. A time for families and friends to gather and exalt in each other’s company.

The sound of lion drums being beaten excites or wakes up a certain long time dormant excitement and memories of childhood and years long gone by.

The Sibu Central Market was very busy with the act of buying and selling.

Everybody knows last minute shopping will result in higher prices and possibly fewer choices.

Only six more days to the reunion dinner. Who doesn’t have a refrigerator in the house nowadays?

They have no idea what fate has in store for them. They will soon be transformed into delicious chicken dishes.

Enzymes have really caught on in Sibu. They are even sold commercially.

I just realized. Almost all ladies have great looking hair this time of the year. Have you ‘done’ your hair?

That’s all for now. I need to go back to my Chinese New Year shopping. :)

Great joy during the expectation like they always say its the preparation for the journey that often give us the best kick more than the destination. Getting ready and busy with spring cleaning & decorating the house, baking kueh, shopping for new clothes and food stuff etc etc is so much fun than the actual CNY day itself.:p

CNY is just another holiday for me. Don’t know why but I don’t feel anything special about this celebration.

This week most things have increased price, that’s why I did my marketing last week. Even though I’m not a chinese, I need to stock up my fridge to beat the increased price.
