Tao, divination and fortune telling

From Tua Pek Kong

To understand today’s post and divination, one must understand that the original Sibu Tua Pek Kong temple was built more than a hundred years ago. The original settlers in Sibu lived a more ‘pioneer-like’ life under more basic conditions. There weren’t many if any doctors around or psychologists for e.g. I suspect there might have been fortune tellers operating under a tree somewhere near the temple etc but mainly worshippers used the ‘chien’ system.

From Tua Pek Kong

Walking back to the car, Cliff decided he wanted to let Glenn pics from the top of the Sibu Tua Pek Kong pagoda. So off we went to the Sibu Tua Pek Kong. It is a Taoist temple. We were fortunate enough to meet up with Mr Tan Teck Chiang ( behind the counter ) who patiently gave us a mini talk on Taoism and what it meant to him and his life.

From Man lifts 80kg of stone with penis

I just had to share this with you. It shows how a human being can do wonders if one sets one’s mind on it. In this pic we see a man exposing his ‘little brother’ to be examined by a group of men on stage. Incidentally the group of men are local VIPs invited for the stage performance.

How much do you spend a week on marketing? I mean the usual stuff you buy at the market not counting in the groceries like cooking oil, salt, eggs, rice, biscuits, bread , noodles etc which you purchase from the supermarket.

My son’s beautiful girlfriend is a broiler chicken

Interesting character : Middle aged woman from the rural areas.

From Untitled Album

Ling Ting : My son has brought home a girl from his university. He is blind. She is like a broiler chicken. You know the type kept in cages, fed until they are heavy and sold at the market. Probably spoiled by her parents, unable to cook well and prone to using an umbrella when she is out in the sun. I went to my son’s bedroom when they were out and saw so many bottles of vanity stuff. Waste of money.

Christmas Music Boxes for Christmas

2010
09.24

It is amazing. Just a fortnight after the Muslim Festival, the shopping complexes are playing Christmas carols. Just as well. It is best to get ready early. I have already prepared a list of gifts to buy.

I have a long shopping list this Christmas. Giving gifts is in my opinion one of the best ways to share goodwill and cheer.

From lantern festival procession

As you can see in the pic above, many of my friends are young and it is not easy to choose a Christmas gift.

But it is not them I am worried about. They are easily pleased. I have been spending so much time with them that I fear my wife will feel neglected. The hardest person to buy a gift for is my wife.I want to make this Christmas special. I want to give her something that will make her eyes sparkle.

I remember once I made the mistake of giving her a new set of pots and pans for Christmas and she didn’t talk to me for one whole day :)

Can you guess what I have in mind?

From Untitled Album

I was looking for Music Boxes and found this Musical Theme Music Box which normally retails at $151.65 but it is now on sale for $90.99

From Untitled Album

This Wine Red Romantic High Gloss Jewelry Music Box is a bargain at $182.99 down from its retail price of $304.98

I did check out the local stores but couldn’t find what I was looking for so I went online to look for Christmas Music Boxes

Now that I have narrowed it down to Music Boxes for my wife, i still have to think of Christmas gifts for my young friends. :D
