It’s a long story but I will begin from day one. The cars in front of me had stopped. I stopped too. Enjoyed some music for a while . Heard a screeching brake sound, looked at the rear view mirror and saw a Hi-Lux coming straight at me from the back.
Big bang sound. Saw Benghui flying and hitting the front passenger seat with his head. I stopped breathing. Benghui recovered soon after. He was alright. My old Korean bone shaker is made of solid steel and some how had absorbed most of the impact. I believe if I had driven a small local compact that night I would have lost the purpose of my life.
I stepped out in the heavy rain to talk things over with Mr Aluminium Guy in the Hi-Lux. He refused to get down from his car. I took pics of his car and mine. I demanded for a copy of his personal identification and took a pic too. There was a terrific traffic jam. Thanks so very much to the people who had stopped to help me out that night.
I have learned some very valuable lessons in handling with a traffic accident. When a motorist causes an accident and is obviously in the wrong, he can be charged with negligent driving and the maximum fine is RM4000.00. I should have demanded some sort of compensation instead of being the good guy. If he refused to comply,I should have filed a complaint against him at the police station for negligent driving. Trust nobody. I lost the use of my car for two months.
He insisted I send my car to a mechanic of his choice. It turned out to be a tow truck driver kind of operation. Insist on an established garage with a good reputation. Once a car is in, they will remove the tyres and there is no turning back. He did a shoddy job and after two months he asked me to go bring home my car. It was full of wires snaking here and there. Screws, bolts and whatnots littered the car. It was definitely not ready. A job which would have taken a mechanic at most three days had taken 2 months.
I gave up. I asked them to finish up what they were doing. I sent it to Sunlun and it was repaired at my own cost. I am sure the tow truck operator claimed a lot, lot, lot from insurance but did minimal shoddy work. Insurance adjustor? He probably was buddies with him. I could have fought for my consumer rights I suppose but what would have been the point? I have more to lose than to gain. It was my fault for getting involved with a shady, crooked operation.
Damn! Sibu has a lot of ppl like this. Susah liao!
It was nobody’s fault as you would not have expected to end up this way. tQ for shining the light exposing this sort of unscrupulous operators in town. We gotta be careful in future then.
In Chinese proverd said: Streets are like a tiger’s mouth (马路如虎口), but it looks more serious now just like person’s moral are like a tiger’s mouth(人心如虎口). Take care my brother.
I think ethical practices must be upheld and things put to the right…we cannot allow this sort of thing to continue..we cannot allow people to profit from people’s ignorance..But then one day those “clever” people will also suffer if there is a thing called poetic justice…
What ever you have done..you have decided for yourself. Money can be earned.
might be a bad experience but sharing it at least will help us avoid such experience. but a better system will still be a great solution.
my friends around KL have experienced it as well! that’s really bad in malaysia nowadays

Glad Benghui escaped unharmed. But something wasn’t too clear from your post. Did you mean the Hi-lux driver knocked your car on purpose, to send your car to his friend’s workshop?
No, it was an accident being a rainy day n he was on the phone i think
If you feel pain in neck region, have a medical check-up. That rear end hit could cause a whiplash injury…. ref: http://goo.gl/YCw52
That was a bad experience… coincidentally, I was involved in an accident recently, and it was in the rain too, but I was the one who knocked onto a taxi’s rear
That cost me RM900+ and endless days without lunch
