sibu flood 2

I have asked my friends what they will remember most about Sibu. Sibu food and Sibu floods. Today the water was quite high and flowing into the drains of my house. It used to happen every ten years or so but now it happens almost every couple of months.

Sibu flood the biggie 2007 didn’t happen

Every body was expecting the worst yesterday but it didn’t happen. There must have been a collective sigh of relief all over the central region. Earlier the region was spooked by a warning from Dr George Chan. The next flood alert is from Dec 21st to Dec 29th

Sibu flood not apparent and Christmas trees

Today the flood is not apparent. Except for snails climbing up my blinds and the dirt, it seems like an ordinary day. The business district seems to be drier now.

Sibu flood warning- BRACE FOR WORSE FLOODS

Residents in Sibu have been getting complacent with the water level going down. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan yesterday warned the people the situation is expected to deteriorate further.

On Thursday night more than 100 ml of rain fell in Kapit. Taking an average of 2 days for the water to reach Sibu combined with king tide at 3.5 m high…flood is predicted. Don’t be complacent. Be warned.

A resident who parked his car outside his compound due to the floods found his car missing. Another friend had to fork out thousands on his Hyundai car which stalled in flood waters. Be calm, don’t panic. Remain on higher ground if possible. Please be advised to stay away from power sub-stations. Keep all electrical appliances in safe places.

Had a flash flood this morning around 5 a.m. when the rain poured in buckets!!! Luckily it did not last too long, so once the rain eased, the water subsided. My car porch was covered with water! Hope it was ok where u are staying.

:) Hello everybody. Omg I feel good and rested. First good sleep I had in three days. When I saw the water would not go up too high I fell into a restful slumber. It has been a stressful experience waiting for the flood waters to come into the house. I have a few more hours before I go to work after lunch.
