Gado-gado ala Bengbeng

09.07

I felt like going vegetarian today. Well not totally vegetarian since eggs are involved.

I decided to cook gado-gado. Gado-gado is a traditional dish in Indonesian cuisine, and is comprised of a vegetable salad served with a peanut sauce dressing. As a child we used to take gado-gado on a regular basis. It is healthy cooking if we don’t take the satay sauce into consideration. :)

I have always been crazy about Penang assam laksa. Something about the fish soup that I have never quite forgotten. Just thinking about it made me hunger for it. That is how I ended up at a cafe in town waiting for abana and victor

Our target was the Sarawak laksa and Penang assam laksa.

I am so excited. I just can’t wait to hop over to Premier Hotel for its latest June/July promotions. What I find irresistible of course would be the Penang Assam Laksa.

This morning Benghui told me he wanted to learn to cook nasi lemak. I took him to market to buy coconut milk. We could not find any pandan leaf. I also bought a can of sambal ikan bilis. We came home. Mrs BB said canned ikan bilis is not healthy and so not to cook it :( . What a life!!! . I looked at Benghui. He looked at me.

From food

Nuts and anchovies. This was easy. I put it in the microwave. No oil, no nothing. Surprisingly it came out well.
