This weekend I prepared bai hua zi ‘tea’. Commonly available in Sibu, it is sweet, bland, slightly bitter and slightly cold. I am not sure if its pharmaceutical name is herba hedyotidis diffusae. It is believed to have the following properties : clears heat and toxin, activates blood circulation, removes blood-stasis, promotes diuresis and relieves stranguria.

Now that the school holidays have begun, I am going nuts. Benghui is so terribly bored even though he spends the nights doing wushu with his friends. He is always asking to go out to look for entertainment. At his age, I was already cycling to the beach, climbing hills, doing stuff which I can’t imagine I would let Benghui do unsupervised today. There are few kids unsupervised where I live and everybody just drives in and out of the compound and then locks the gate. Very little interaction opportunities for him.
