Malaysian ghost story-my parents return

robin

Today’s post will probably be met with ridicule by certain quarters. Perhaps it was caused by the one full can of beer I had last night. But I believe I wasn’t drunk as I could publish this post last night before sleeping. I tried to comment on tnchick but couldn’t so I decided to go to sleep. Anyway, one can of beer isn’t likely to make me drunk.

Of ghosts,spirits and lost souls

Many do not believe in the existence of lost souls. Some say they are a figment of one’s imagination. Some say they are stories meant to scare the weak in mind and spirit.

Today I met a man. A very strong man. He told me a story I wish to share with you all. Be disbelieving or be skeptical or believe in it: it is up to you.

Photohunters: Classic Sibu Ghost Story

photohunters2mo1

There is a place in Sibu called the Bukit Lima Forest Reserve. Many people go exercise there. You walk along the plank walk until you reach the end where you reach the entrance.

A couple used to frequent the place in the evenings. One day they were later than usual. The wife …I will use dialogue to illustrate the story:

Siew Fong: I knew something was wrong. It was getting dark. My husband was getting fatigued and walking very slowly. I decided to walk ahead. I thought this would spur him on.

When I looked back, I saw a woman riding on him piggy back. I was so frightened. Even the forest insects had stopped humming. He is my husband. I had to get him.

I walked back to my husband. I don’t know where I got the resolve and courage. I grabbed my husband’s hand. He was in a daze and seemed unaware of anything. My hair stood on end and I refused to look at the ‘thing’. I lead him out of the forest reserve.

There was a foul smell and it was very chilly. I felt like collapsing.I lead my husband by his hand. I refused to let go. It was a very big effort. I almost fainted. I prayed to God and kept repeating the Lord’s Prayer.

After a few minutes I looked back. My husband was no longer in a daze. The thingy was no longer there. He was surprised to see us so near the entrance. He was sick for five days after that.

We still frequent the place but we go early and leave early.

Few Nights before Raya

Few Nights before Raya
By Hawksmoor

To skeptics of the supernatural, what I am about to recount may seem nonsensical – something perhaps attributable to tiredness or hallucination. But I am not one for seeing things, and despite being educated in Western ideas and disciplined in rationalism, I have a healthy respect for the otherworldly (interestingly, my work is tangentially related too). Also, this “encounter” is not my first, having had a few episodes when studying in one of the most haunted campuses in this country – University Malaya! But that is another story.

The one I am about to recount took place a week before the Raya celebration. It was early morning (say around 3ish a.m.) when I woke up to perform my in-between sleep ablution. I normally have my window curtains drawn, except for a small gap to let win in (I live on the top floor of a five-story apartment, situated on top of a hill). As I was about to climb into bed, something caught my eye from the interstices; edging my head a little to see more directly, I saw, to my horror, two human-like figures sitting on the roof on the apartment block just across from mine (about 200 meters). Now, my rational friends, before you say that they may be a couple of kids just up to their tricks, let me stress the point that the two figures were glowing – a kind of soft green light emanated from them. One of them was sitting, and another was standing with its hands outstretched – and both were absolutely STILL. Of course I freaked out, and was momentarily petrified. One small blessing in all this is that I cannot really see clearly because I wear glasses, and although my glasses were right next to me, I did not dare put them on precisely because I did not want to see clearly. But I am not blind nor highly short-sighted: I know/saw what I saw.

Anyway, as the fright subsided, I crept back into bed, praying to God that they did not see me, and tried to go back to sleep (needless to say, I wasn’t very successful, and for the rest of the night, was plagued with frightening dreams). The next day, I told my mom about it, and she advised me, as any sensible woman would, to sleep thenceforth with the curtains completely drawn – which I heeded.

Until Hari Raya that is.

Visiting a student of mine, I recounted the story to her, which she related to her mom – a highly respected artist in this country. She later told me that what I experienced had to do with the fact that it was twenty-seventh night of Ramadhan, and according to her, at a particular point in time during this night (which no one knows exactly), the world enters a “silent” phase and the natural and supernatural worlds open up to each other. She also told me – and this is the happy news – that what I witnessed were not, as I thought, ghosts, but angels, judging from their green glow. Having heard this now and in retrospect, the outstretched hands may have been wings all along – but of course I view this in light of popular imagination on what angels look like, and hence may be totally off the mark! And now that I have seen them, I am blessed for life!!

Now I am not claiming any authority on what I saw. All I know is that I saw something which frightened me at that point, and days after. I’d love to hear from those of you who are reading this what your opinions are, but please save your skepticism, not because I think you are wrong (because you may be right), but because I have already heard them. Cheers.

My experience with ghosts, spirits and exorcism

monk

I was asked to help out with a youth camp some time ago. We needed a place big enough to accommodate about a hundred people so our choice of venue was limited.

Anyway we settled on a place well known for paranormal phenomena. So to be on the safe side, the organizing committee decided to hold an exorcism the night before the youth camp. Prior to that, in preparing for the camp some of us had encountered sightings.

Of faith and things that come in the night

I am not sure if this post will ever see the light of day. Some of you may be aware Benghui had an accident on Monday but came out unscathed. It made me question the very fabric of my life. How fragile and vulnerable we all are in the face of unexpected uncertainties in life. Suddenly, like a deck of cards, our carefully orchestrated lifes may crumble down all around us.

Mystery of Sibu ghost solved

DSCN1823

This pic created quite a stir when it was first published in the local See Hua Daily. All kinds of theories were given as to why the ghost chose to haunt this man. He had no idea why this pic turned out this way after it was developed.

DSCN1921

Now the mystery is solved. The pic shows a man with an old comic book. On the comic book is a pic of the ‘ghost’. Apparently it had been photoshopped from the comic. Hhahahahaah

My first verified ghost experience

I guess some of you readers must be wondering after reading my ghost stories how I end up like this : so sensitive to the presence.

It all started when I was six years old. At that time I was always afraid of ghosts :) I didn’t know what they were but I knew they were real to me although others didn’t seem to sense them. Read more »
