Father and son hurt in gas stove explosion

A father and his son were hurt when a gas stove exploded in their home.

Most of us take our gas stove for granted. It is not put in a display cabinet for example but its utility makes it indispensable to all families. Perhaps it is high time for mylongkang readers to check our gas stove and the hose.

Missing child, Yin, safe and sound and reunited with family

You have a child. You love him/her to bits and would do anything for the child. Yet in a moment of carelessness, you lose the child . How would you feel?

The story of Yin captivated the nation. The father showed himself to be a person of sterling character as they went through the crisis. No criminal charges were filed against the woman who had taken care of Yin all this while. Anyway, if reports are true, she even saved the child’s life.

So, here you have a wandering child, a good samaritan, a frantic family, a cooperative police force , many well-wishers and some inconsiderate members of the public.

Yin has been found
and the whole nation rejoices with the family for their lost son found. It could easily have turned out differently.

But it must be a reminder to us to take good care of our children especially the young ones. Are we mentally alert as to their whereabout at all times especially in potentially dangerous areas e.g. busy streets or crowded areas. Remember the color of their clothing so we can scan for their whereabouts with a glance. Keep them near us at all times. Never leave them in a playground etc without adult supervision. Others may covert your child .

Your purse is not the most valuable thing with you when you bring along a child. Some people are ever conscious of their handbags/wallets/purses etc when they are out shopping but are not aware of their child’s immediate whereabouts in a shopping centre.

Update: 16/04/07

The couple who found the child has been arrested and brought to the police station for questioning. They failed to explain why the child was shaved bald and there was no sign of measles as they had claimed. An unconfirmed rumour said they had intentions to use the child for begging purposes.

I saw a group of my colleagues bunched over a newspaper this morning. What were they gawking at? My curiosity piqued me and I drew nearer. They were all looking at a baby abandoned in Kuching and wondering if she was Chinese.

Blood is thicker than water as reunion proves while religion and race is set aside.

I heard this a few months ago from a young foochow lady, a very young foochow lady, barely 16-years-old and charming as can be. She was looking bewildered and I asked her why.

SYT : i still can’t believe it. We received a call, many calls in fact from friends and relatives. It was in the papers. Someone was looking for us. Our family was bewildered. We had a family conference and decided to call the number listed in the paper.

It is only after I started blogging, I have realized through my surfing that being a woman carries with its status a lot of potential for sorrow.

Scuba diving a magical experience for paraplegics

What is life like for a paraplegic? Very different from a non-paraplegic to say the least. Two documented cases I read was about an artist and a teacher. The teacher became a tuition teacher and the lady became an artist by painting with her mouth. Unfortunately I read it years ago so I don’t have the links.
