If you were seventeen again, what would you change if you had a second chance? Everybody deserves a second chance in life but few are given the second chance. Tell me, what would be the first thing you would change if you had this second chance?

In life the rich will always say wealth is immaterial to a good life while the poor slog on day and night a life-time or until the next generation lifts them out of poverty or providence deals them a good hand. But money is almost everything in life. If money weren’t important, why are the majority of us still working and slogging day after day?

I saw a boy I knew fairly well today. He is fourteen years old. As it was morning, I expected him to be in school but NO. He was busy working as a laborer.

Child disappeared for three weeks
02.10
Yesterday was my second day in the office since the 16th of January. Omg how my work has accumulated. My head just goes round and round thinking of all the work I have to do just to catch up.
I was just with a good friend of mine. She was lamenting that her thirteen year old son has not come home to sleep in their house for three weeks already. He is safe she said because she occasionally can see him hanging around with his school-dropout friends.
She told me there is nothing she can do about it other than physically chaining him in the home which is impractical. She has to leave for work early in the morning and only comes home in the evening.
The thought crossed my mind that if this child mixes with these supposedly school dropout friends, sooner or later he will have a cash flow problem. None of them seem to show signs of being employed.
I worry for the future of this kid. As a single mother, there is so much she can do and no more. I think every parent worries one day his/her child will turn out this way. I too try my very best to be a good parent. But in life there are no guarantees. Parenting is never easy. Kids have a mind of their own.
What can a parent do when a child stops listening and turns delinquent? It is every parent’s nightmare.

Character: Late 30s, female, mid-level-executive, mother of five. I have known her for more than 10 years.
Cynthia : I read you bought a dress online for Mrs BB. The last time I went to your house, I saw the handbags you bought for her on your travels too. You are too good to her and Benghui. You pamper them too much. There is always clutter, noise and music in your home.

Answered prayers, faith and a child
06.07
I don’t know when it all began. If I look back, it probably started when a member of the family became sick. Since then, Benghui has begun to pray occasionally : when the need arises. He kept it all from us but occasionally it slips.

Delta Mall, Sibu and acrophobia
12.30
Being Sunday, I took my family to the new shopping centre, Delta Mall. The location is strategic for me and there are so many parking lots though when all the outlets are open, that may no longer be the case. With the advent of Sen Q in Sibu, the prices of electrical goods are expected to become more competitive.

Grandpa wants me to be a doctor
12.28
Everybody wants to be a success. Most people dreamed of being a doctor. It is a glamorous job in the sense that there is glamor in helping people and saving lives. When we miss the boat, we hope our children will become a doctor and when they miss the boat and study IT instead
, we hope for their grandchildren
Benghui : Daddy, daddy. I have something important to talk to you.
Bengbeng: What?
Benghui: Kong kong wants me to be a doctor. He wants me to be a doctor like Uncle Bernard. I cannot. I don’t want. Because i am not a doctor. If a sick man comes to see me I don’t know what medicine to give. I only know my vitamins, flu medicine and fever medicine. I am so small. Everybody is so big. How can I be a doctor?
Bengbeng: You grow up to be a good man. Earn an honest living. Be a doctor if you want to when the time comes.
Mrs Bengbeng: Next time, if I am sick, I see you and save money.
Benghui: Money? Money?

I refer to the above link. Muhammad Ikmal Imran Ahmad Nizam suffered 70% burns on his face and body. This is indeed a shocking incident. I have heard of incidents where smoking is involved or mobile phones are involved but this is the first time I have heard of an incident like this.
As a parent, I wonder how I can protect my child.
