In this post, it is not my intention to explore who is the guilty party but to highlight the fact that females too do inflict physical violence against their husbands.

I find it incredible that a study by University Kebangsaan Malaysia ( UKM ) has revealed that most high risk girls in an ‘unnamed’ state had experienced sex before. From the 3 month study , UKM’s Children and Youth Psychology specialist Dr Khaidzir Ismail, found that 886 from 887 case studies had experienced it and the study encompassed 20 students with disciplinary problems from particular schools with ages ranging from Form One to Form Five.
Now that the issue is out in the open, we need not to shove it under the carpet but instead to examine ourselves where have we gone wrong that these young girls have deviated from the norms acceptable to our Malaysian society. Read more »
It was reported today in theborneopost that Sibu police have detained a 19-year-old youth on suspicion of having hurled a Molotov cocktail at a house in Rejang Park.
This is not a uncommon incident in Sibu. For reasons known or unknown, Molotov cocktails have been used in the past in Sibu as a form of revenge or as a form of intimidation. The perpetrator usually comes in the middle of the night and in the worst case scenario hopes to burn the victim’s house, cars and perhaps take a life or two. Read more »

In Putra Jaya today, Datuk Seri Najib Razak joined a growing list of politicians to express his views over the decision by the Kota Baru Municipal Council to impose fines on Muslim and non-Muslim women working in the retail outlets and restaurants who wore clothes deemed to be revealing.

He said, “Such a ruling would only create uneasiness among the people. We are already facing problems in terms of interpretation on what constitutes indecent dressing. This (move) will only create uneasiness and unhappiness among certain quarters or groups. They (the council) should not get overly excited to act based on their own interpretation. It would curtail individual freedom”.
As relatives mourned for the three boys who died by poisoning, the whole nation is gripped by the loan shark issue. What drives sane men to borrow from the loan sharks. It is impossible they have no awareness of the consequences of their actions.
For the loan sharks, money lending is a business venture. They are loan sharks primarily for one purpose, to earn profits. They have to pay debt-collectors, incur interest payments ( if invested elsewhere this money would also generate interest payments ) and bear the burden of unsettled debts. They have their reputations to upkeep too: if it were known they were soft, all their other debtors would stop paying too! To expect any sympathy from this quarter is wishful thinking.
In today’s issue of the star, Public relations officer, Mohd Azman Daham of the Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) said women working in retail outlets and restaurants in Kelantan have been warned to mind their dressing or be prepared to face a fine.

The Kota Baru Municipal Council (MPKB) has announced that it would no longer tolerate indecent dressing by women, both Muslim and non-Muslim.
Yours truly here feels that is unfair to target those in the retail field. Are only those working in the retail field immoral? Does their clothing make them immoral? A pretty woman would attract attention whatever clothing she wears.
In this article, I will only touch on the non-Muslim women.
The next step would be to gazette by-laws for all those working in all fields from the hospital to the army and the police, to the farmer, person who slaughters chicken, washes the dishes etc. It cannot be denied all ladies must wear morally acceptable clothing.
I recommend that multi-million complexes be built at the outskirts of Kota Baru. All non-Muslim ladies who work in the retail industry will be required to descend from the bus/car/motor-cycle/lorry/trishaw/bicycle they are on to enter a special building to be called, Jabatan Imigrasi Pakaian.
