My husband,all men are stupid.Except you,of course.

I was washing my car yesterday when a lady on a bicycle stopped at my gate. I had seen her before at the market. She was dressed in a pair of black slacks the type ladies in the 50’s like to wear and a yellow, orange black almost batik look tight fitting blouse.

She had some vegetables to sell. It was very hot and I needed to get some money so I invited her into the compound. It is much cooler because of my extension and there are concrete chairs for her to sit and rest.

Of faith and things that come in the night

I am not sure if this post will ever see the light of day. Some of you may be aware Benghui had an accident on Monday but came out unscathed. It made me question the very fabric of my life. How fragile and vulnerable we all are in the face of unexpected uncertainties in life. Suddenly, like a deck of cards, our carefully orchestrated lifes may crumble down all around us.

The most embarrassing moment in my life

A cheeky niece of mine on myspace.com challenged me to write this post entitled the most embarrassing moment of my life. So, here goes. Remember, you promised to visit me this Christmas! :)

It had been a hectic day. I drove home from work, changed and rushed to the community hall. I was one of the invited guests and sat on stage. I was a little overdressed in a long-sleeved shirt and tie. I removed the tie immediately. Anyway, I was invited to sit on one of the few sofa-like chairs on stage normally reserved for ‘distinguished guests’.

Martha-toot the horn-Mother Horn

motherhorn

Mother Horn is about 50 today. She used to have lovely rich long hair, big, bright dazzling eyes and well endowed with ‘physical’ assets. She has only a little education and used to work for a small factory. However as she was much needed to help with her father’s noodle stall she soon had to stop working.

She had her heart set on marrying. However her dad just found her indispensable. Her brother was given a small set-up capital to start a small business. Poor Mother Horn had to sacrifice herself. She was needed at the noodle stall the whole day. She is also called Martha.

Remembering Madam Dolly, a mother’s sacrifice

DSCN2057
Mother

I don’t know why but I have been feeling melancholy these few days. Perhaps it is because I am also a parent now. That is not to say I am being soppy or anything like that. It is just as an adult, I now realize how much she sacrificed to bring us all up.

Sibu Bengbeng almost bitten by snake

It was around lunch time and I was walking to my favorite eating stall when I almost stepped on this snake. It was pissed and angry and how to put it’ raised itself up’ and lunged at me. I could make it dramatic and say I dropped my kongpia or how I heroically caught it etc but all I did was manage to evade it in time. That too was a bit tricky because of my hurt ankle.

DSCN1771

Passers-by too were surprised as nobody had noticed it. It was next to a dustbin and seemed to be camouflaged there. Two sweet young things screamed.

DSCN1772

I came back later, armed with a camera and it was still there but no longer angry. Just enjoying life in the sun but hidden from public view unless you are looking for it. Some one told me this is a particularly poisonous snake. Anybody out there knows? A name would be enough to google for it to find out if it is poisonous,
