Why is this site called mylongkang.com?

11.30

I have noticed many mamak stalls and kopi tiams mushroom by the longkang. The waters of the longkang aren’t too clean either. But that doesnt stop people from frequenting such places. It is at places like these that the conversation is most alive.

roti canai

The people , the real people…..the people who are out there…whether they walk there, come on a motorcycle, Perodua Kancil or a Mercedez….go to such places to relax, unwind, borak-borak and see who’s there.

In the same way, I hope my blog will be a place where people will stop by on their cyber journey to other websites…see what is there and tell us what is going on in their lives.

In other words, the typical kopi-tiam :)
I will be there in my white singlet and short pants to take your order. Anybody wants roti canai, kaya with roti?

My regular kopi tiam customer ( guest blogger ) is fly-fisher

Good site. Nice topic to read. But as Mamak Stall story? I believe you are the customer. Giving out money to drink roti canai & teh tarik.

How about if you become the stall owner? The Mamak? In short, well, I suggest you install some ads here (for us to buy-if related) such as Adsense, Amazon, Chitika, etc… anyway, thats only a suggestion from a customer to a mamak stall. Chow…

  9. Bengbeng says:

My blog is too new to apply to have ads. It is not yet one month’s old as of today :) . However it is a good suggestion. I will keep it in mind and the ads might attract readers too. Thank you :)

Good point here for naming ur blog mylongkang…why didn’t I think about that ha?

u can try my kangpi ( riverside? :)

  19. LC_Teh says:

I was not very good at hanging around at kopitiams. I was always thinking about what I could be doing with my time. But then once in a while I’d venture into one to find out what’s happening. Usually there’s nothing much. The guys who have all the time at hand seem to have nothing much to discuss with me. I’m one of those with far away dreams. Those were the days. I haven’t sat in a real kopitiam for ages.

Now this place of yours seems more likely a place where you’ll meet new visitors drifting by every now and then and meet the regulars. A cyber kopitiam. That’s nice. Keep those interesting subjects coming. I’ll be back to look into this ‘longkang’.

You are always welcome. I will reserve some kong pia for u :)

  20. Jean says:

Yea the mamak idea and the creative name are so cool.

hahahah thanks. i have linked you. :)

  24. Hi Bengbeng, my favorite longkang eatery is the siham and sotong kangkung stall by the monsoon drain in historic Melaka. The next time you drop by my hometown, I’ll take you there for a taste of real longkang experience.

Now that I’ve discovered you, mylongkang.com is my second favorite.

i will take u up on the offer sooner or later ;)

  25. Yeah, next time you go Melaka, will show you a place to eat by the cemetery…cool place.
My another website will be http://www.exploremelaka.com
    (can I don’t do mathematics here?) :P

it is jus to stop spam :)

  26. Jayce says:

    1 roti canai please… :)

  27. It’s a real shame of boasting such a s/market here.
It hardly has any proper parking space and other facilities which created much chores to the ppl living nearby and the shoppers themselves.

If such a s/market can boom, my toilet can be a kopitaim too!

thanks for yr input..i didnt realize that problem..now that u mention it..it must pose great difficulties for nearby residents. on the plus side though, u dont have to spend so much money on petrol like me n drive so far jus to buy a few items. thank you.
